GDSN 223 P1: 6-Letter Bitmap Monogram
When creating this Letter Bitmap Monogram, I desided to play around with elongating the letter form and exadurating the high of the cross bars. Not being able to use curves was definetly a challenge, but I think I was able to successfully create identifiable letters without curves.
GDSN 223 P2: 4-Letter System
Trying to create letters to be cohesive with the original R was a struggle. Overall, I think the letters all work together. The S was by far the hardest to create, I never was able to get the curves just right.
GDSN 223 P3: Sequential Type Work
I really enjoyed the shapes and forms I was able to create in this project. My color choices weren’t as effective as I would have liked. If I w,ere to redo the color’s, I would take them in a different direction. My favorite part of this assignment was definitely getting to print it out and work with a physical object.

Poster Fold
I had a lot of fun creating the typeface for the front of this poster. The hierarchy on the back of the poster could definitely use some work. If I were to redo it, I would make the text in the corners smaller and the text in the middle bigger. The color palet I desided to use for this poster works well for the content, and I would love to have a poster like this in my room.

Magazine
This is by far my favorate thing I’ve made in my graphic design classes so far. I think the contrast of the light and dark is successful. The way I rapped the text creates interest. And the hierarchy used in the text is effective. I’m really happy how this spread came together, and I wouldn’t change anythinng about it.

Packaging
This project definitely had a lot of moving parts. I chose to make a box for a candle kit, and I’m really happy with the unique logo I created. The box itself is not so much, it still needs a lot of tweaking. Ideally, I would go back and change the colors and the way I boxed up the information, and create a softer color palette, wrap the mountains around the whole box, and float the information above the mountains. I think the simplisity of the instruction images was probable the most sucksesful part of this project, and in the future I’d like to go back and make all the nesisary changes.

Dragon Letter Form
I created this letter form for a Sculpture class I took. I was given the letter N to work with and then create a 3D sculptured Dragon to represent the N. I created it by using wood, wood glue, screws, and power tools. I had so much fun making it and love how it came out. It is currently located on the south side of the art building on the fence, go check it out if you have a chance.
Sockeye Salmon Prints
With my knowledge of the riso michigen from GDSN 223, I was able to make these fish zines for my foundations class. I started with a lino print that I made and then scaned it on the Riso michenes so that I could make as many prints as I wanted to. It was a lot of fun to play around with the different colors, and by the end, I think I made around 300 copies.

Hi, my name’s Carly Schudlich, and I’m currently a second year graphic design student at Montana State University. I am originally from Anchorage, Alaska, and love being in Montana because of its similar environment. I’ve always been a creative person and love trying new mediums. When It comes to design, I strive to keep my designs clean and purposeful. I’ve already learned so much from my GDSN classes, and I’m excited to continue learning and growing as a Graphic Designer.
